Few people have the opportunity to work and be paid for something they enjoy; for practicing a hobby.

And that is exactly how I felt when hired to compare hair removal products.

It is not that my life's vocation centered around hair removal products, but that my practical nature comes with a strong desire for experimenting. And therefore with this type of contract I get the best of two worlds.

I am also the perfect candidate for this type of research as I have removed every hair from my body with the exception of my eyebrows.

The only thing I had not taken into account was that I had to allow my hair to grow back - at one point if felt like being reborn as a porcupine.

I carefully designed my campaign. I decided as a first step to grow some of my hair back, giving this part of the research a week to do so as some areas grow at different rates.

The first type of hair, and type of hair removal product was quite easy to chose. I refer to my facial hair. I applied to closely related systems. A wet shave and an electrical shave.

Simple and expedient.

The next stage was to use the wax method on my legs and arms.

My chest and under the arms was slightly more complicated regarding the chosen products. As part of the ongoing contract I had to include lasers and electrolysis. I suspected by this time that the under arm hair removal was not such a good choice for these methods.

I cheated - I avoided that type experience by what I mentally termed, the anti masochistic reasons. (At least it sounded scientific).

But the experiment did proceed in the right direction, without my sponsors missing out in any of the extensive research phases I had outlined in the contract.

I convinced two different friends that they had an interesting opportunity of doing there bit for the betterment of science while making some extra money.

Unfortunately one of them run out of money before finishing the series of sessions, and the budget only took into account payment against receipts.

The other one didn't follow my advice to apply due diligence, the first requirement being to obtain and follow up on references and professional reputation. He walked into the first parlor he found.

He has been leaving me these insistently annoying messages all over the place, however I have been extremely busy so I haven't had time to return his calls. I am sure it is something of no real importance.

I have to admit that one of the major advantages I have any other professional researcher is that I am very lazy.

You may question this advantage, however if you think about it, there is no better recommendation. none at all..

It is very easy to explain and depending on your mental abilities, it is also very easy to understand.

I am lazy, therefore this means I have to be practical. My laziness stems from an intense dislike of wasting energy.

I therefore dedicate the initial period of time on pre-planning. At this stage I am saving energy and time on two counts.

I am not rushing around in a whirlwind of wasted energy, and I am anticipating future requirements.

I then find the easiest route (based on efficient use of time combined with potentially, the best results). I hire others to do the heavy work. This really means I get paid for the use of my brain power.

I the gather data (I have someone do it for me), analyze it and present my results.

So for a comparison of hair removal products, my results show (with a strong advantage over its rival methods) that based on:
- cost
- reliability
- speed of application
- repeat usage
- expected results
an electric shaver is the best alternative.
